Board of Directors
The responsibilities of the board of Directors are to provide vision to the organization’s direction and future, and to address all legal, financial and corporate responsibilities. There are no assigned duties to the seats (Publications, Technology, etc); each seat holds the same responsibility as the other six seats. The Board is the primary supervisor for all of the National officers.
Very little of the job of a Director deals with coordination or storytelling, as that is left to the NC and NST. If you are interested in impacting the operations of the club, you should consider those roles or a regional office.
The Board of Directors is voted in by the general membership, and those seats each come up for vote every three years. The Board consists of seven elected members and two non-voting members appointed by the Board, representing financial and legal roles.

Jay Clark, Chair and Director
Jason Clark is a seasoned veteran of the Mind’s Eye Society (MES), having immersed himself in its various incarnations since 1997. His journey within the MES has been marked by a plethora of roles, showcasing his multifaceted talents and unwavering dedication to the community.
Starting as a Chapter Storyteller, Jason quickly demonstrated his flair for crafting immersive narratives and engaging gameplay experiences. His passion for storytelling led him to taking on the mantle of Venue Storyteller and later Domain Storyteller, where he honed his skills in world-building and character development.
His contributions extended beyond the local level, as Jason played pivotal roles in orchestrating regional and national events within the MES.
Beyond his virtual endeavors, Jason brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his real-life profession. Armed with a Master’s degree in Social Work and a license as an independent counselor, he is committed to supporting individuals in their journey towards mental wellness.
Jason’s journey through the MES has been defined by his passion for storytelling, his unwavering commitment to community-building, and his dedication to supporting others both within the game and in real life. he continues to inspire and empower those around him, leaving an indelible mark on the fabric of the Mind’s Eye Society.
Jack Hambly, MES Director and Vice-Chair
Jack has been a member of the Org for close to a quarter-century. Before becoming a director, he served as both storyteller and coordinator staff from local to global levels. He has degrees from Radford University and the University of Richmond and is now pursuing another degree in the SEC conference.
In his spare time, he is a musician and an award-winning writer. He also enjoys reading, horror films (in particular, New French Extremism), and culinary pursuits. He shares his life with three serial killers and a Blue Merle poodle.
Howie Herrin, MES Director and Secretary/Treasurer
Denise Lilly, MES Director
Denise Lilly is a dedicated member of the Modern Enigma Society. Beginning her journey in the Camarilla, she has traveled a long path into the modern day, starting with the House of Civil Unrest in Northeast Ohio and serving in numerous coordinator and storyteller roles along the way. Her favorite venues are Mage: The Awakening and Changeling: The Lost, though she happily joins players in other venues as well—because that’s where the stories truly come to life.
From her first moments in the organization, Denise served as an ACC for her local chapter and has continued helping guide both members and the organization through a variety of roles. She now continues that journey as a Director on the MES Board while also supporting her local region and domain. For Denise, the organization has always been about helping people connect, grow, and build something meaningful together.
Her personal life helped prepare her for these responsibilities. With a strong background in education, Denise earned her Master of Education while raising three children, giving her firsthand experience in the balancing act required to support both a household and the many levels of the MES she has served within. She understands the importance of patience, communication, and creating spaces where people feel supported and heard.
Outside the organization, Denise enjoys immersing herself in books and stories, watching a wide variety of movies, playing video games such as World of Warcraft, hiking and walking through her hometown, spending time in nature, and enjoying life with her family and beloved purr babies.
What Denise values most about the organization is its commitment to being more than just a group of gamers—it strives to be a true community. Charity is not simply a buzzword to her; it is something she has seen firsthand through the work members accomplish together. The friendships, support, and passion shared within the organization are what continue to inspire and drive her forward every day.

Christian Herr, Non-Voting Director of Finance
Christian joined The Camarilla in 1994 as a member of the Williamsburg, Virginia chapter. He relocated to Washington DC in 1995 and started the first chapter there with an introductory meeting on the grounds of the National Cathedral. He has served as a coordinator ranging from the chapter level all the way to assisting at the national level; He has also worked in a wide range of storyteller positions including time on the national ST staff. After being the lead for several conventions, including running the first Tri-Regional event and also managing successful charity drives, Christian was selected as the National Finance Administrator – a role he has held starting in 2005. During the reorganization in 2010 he became the Board’s Director of Finance.
Christian works as a contractor in the Washington DC metropolitan area as a Senior Network Engineer and Project Manager serving the Federal Government. He spends the warmer months traveling with his family and training for 75 mile charity bicycle rides with his wife. For the past 13 years Christian has been balancing his LARP time with his role as a father of two energetic boys (with LARP usually losing the battle).
